In 2023, in the heart of New York, MIYOMACCHI was unveiled by its founder, Maki Miyoshi. Our establishment is more than just a sweet shop; it's a testament to our commitment to delivering top-quality ingredients designed to captivate a global audience.
Maki Miyoshi started her career as a fashion designer and stylist. After moving to New York, she continued working in fashion, even creating costumes for theater productions. However, her path changed in 2022 when she helped a Japanese food company at the Summer Fancy Food Show at the Javits Center. Talking to various food companies, she learned about their struggles post-pandemic and their high-quality products. Inspired to help promote these products abroad, she began brainstorming ideas to catch customers' eyes using various ingredients. That's when the idea of cat-shaped cheesecake tarts came to mind.
While she had plenty of ideas, Maki Miyoshi lacked baking experience, so she sought out talented bakers who could perfectly bring her ideas to life. Thus, MIYOMACCHI was born. The store officially opened in October 2023.
Due to being a small team, we're not able to engage in large-scale production. However, our focus isn't solely on mass-producing and selling in large quantities. Rather, we prioritize using rare and unique ingredients abundantly, while also conveying the value of these ingredients. Since sourcing such ingredients in the US can be challenging due to their rarity, our production capacity is naturally limited.
To ensure the utmost attention to detail, we deliberately limit our sales to a specific time slot of two hours once a week. This allows our entire staff to focus their efforts on meticulously crafting each dessert, rather than spreading themselves thin throughout the week. While this may be seen as a limitation for our customers, we believe it's an opportunity to showcase the immense value of each dessert. Each creation receives an extensive amount of time and attention, using ingredients sourced from farmers who dedicate even more time and effort to produce top-quality ingredients that are truly one of a kind.
